SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN for our anthology on the theme of alter egos, out September 2019.
We’re looking for every possible interpretation of ‘alter egos’, so don’t limit yourself to superhero poems (although those are great too). We’re not looking for a particular style or length of poem, but to showcase a wide range, so go with what works for you.
How to submit
- To be eligible for this anthology, you need to have bought a book from us since 1st September 2018. (Book sales allow us to continue to exist as a small press, and are essential in enabling us to create projects like this one.)
- To submit your poems, forward any badbettypress.com order confirmation email to submissions.badbettypress@gmail.com without changing the subject line, and ATTACH YOUR POEMS to the email.
- Please attach a maximum of 4 poems, ideally in a single Word doc or PDF.
- Deadline: 28th April 2019
What happens next
We’ll read all submissions after the deadline, and get back to everyone soon after that. The selected poems will be published in the anthology (we may request some edits before including them in the book). The selected poets will be invited to read their work at the launch event this autumn, and will receive two free copies of the book and an author discount on additional copies. The launch will be held at an accessible venue in London.
A bit about submissions in general
We’re really excited to read all your work. We’re unable to provide feedback on specific submissions, but we (along with most publishers out there) receive a very high number and standard of poems, so if your work doesn’t get chosen for this, it doesn’t mean it’s not fantastic. We always love more poems than we can publish.
