We’re looking for poems on the theme of SURVIVAL, for a Bad Betty anthology launching Autumn 2020.
We’d love to see a wide range of interpretations on the theme, so take it wherever you like, from COVID-19 to surviving high school, from the political/historical to the personal (and the ways they coexist), from apocalypses to apocalyptic relationships, from Bear Grylls to Beyoncé.
Successful poets will have their work published in the book, receive a £50 fee, and be invited to perform at the launch, with travel reimbursement and a small performer fee. (At the moment, we can’t say whether this will be a live event or happening online—we’ll know more as we all see how lockdown unfolds.)
This anthology is supported by Arts Council England.

Payment
Last year we asked submitting poets to buy a book from us, or to have bought one in the past 6 months. As it’s a difficult time for a great many artists, we’re accepting free submissions if a fee would be a barrier for you (you don’t need to prove this, we’ll take your word for it). However if you can afford to, buying a book here helps us to keep making books and running events.
