Our Environmental Policy

Our world is in crisis, and we cannot ignore the devastating impact that human industry continues to have on the climate and natural environment. We all have a responsibility to engage with the ecological emergency, and reduce any environmental damage our everyday actions, processes and practices cause. This is particularly true for businesses and organisations, who have a responsibility to lead in this regard.

We are committed to the following objectives:

Recycling at least 80% of business waste
Choosing public transport for at least 70% of business travel
Minimising material waste in publishing, distributing and marketing
Optimising tour programming to reduce environmental impact
Sharing these objectives our team, artists and partners in order to promote a culture of environmental responsibility

How we are putting these objectives into practice:

Running day-to-day operations out of a shared co-working space, allowing us to pool energy such as electricity
Recycling packaging and office waste
Printing with book manufacturers TJ Books, who use FSC-Certified paper from responsibly managed forests, and are ISO 14001:2015 accredited
Using data to predict sales and inform print runs according to demand, minimising waste of printed stock
Using digital trade marketing over printed brochures
Offering ebooks as a way for readers to access our work using zero paper and zero shipping
Using video conferencing for meetings that would otherwise require travel
Using train or coach for the majority of touring transport
Facilitating pooled travel for artists and partners touring via car
Including local acts and hosts in every tour event
Planning and grouping tour locations to facilitate fewer and shorter journeys
Evaluating our adherence to the guidelines above in regular team and board meetings, and identifying potential areas for improvement
